Intelligent Mixing and Granulation Technology Drives the Hard Alloy Industry Towards Efficient, Precise, and Green Production

AKW has officially announced groundbreaking application results of its advanced mixing and granulation equipment and technology solutions in the preparation of tungsten carbide (WC) and hard alloy mixtures. This solution is helping numerous hard alloy manufacturers worldwide solve the challenges of preparing uniform granules from ultra-fine powders, setting a new industry benchmark for improving final product quality and optimizing production processes.

Tungsten carbide, the "heart" of hard alloys, has raw material powder physical characteristics—such as fluidity, bulk density, and particle strength—that directly determine the success of subsequent pressing and sintering processes, ultimately affecting the performance of products such as cutting tools and wear-resistant parts. Traditional tungsten carbide granulation processes often face challenges such as poor particle uniformity, excessive fine powder, poor fluidity, and unstable process control.

Leveraging its decades of deep expertise in solid-liquid separation, crystallization, and drying, AKW has innovatively applied its mature "granulation" technology from the mining and chemical industries to the high-tech powder metallurgy field. This results in small particles with high sphericity, concentrated particle size distribution, and excellent fluidity.

"In the hard alloy industry, the requirements for raw material consistency and reliability are almost stringent," said AKW's Process Technology Director in an interview. "Our solution is not just about providing a drying equipment, but a highly integrated and controllable process system. It ensures that every step from slurry preparation to particle formation is in optimal condition, thus providing our customers with high-performance and highly consistent molding materials."
